Project under construction

Luca Bermejo

Hyperbiosis is a generative sonic installation that emerges from collaboration between human and non-human life, a bioelectrical partnership between plants, fungi, and humans. Using a custom-built “Biodata” interface, the project translates the imperceptible electrical activity of organic beings into MIDI signals, transforming biological pulses into sound.
Electrodes placed on leaves and mycelial networks capture subtle shifts in voltage, reactions to light, touch, proximity, even presence. These signals are not deterministic commands but living variables: flickers of intention, tension, or resonance. From this data, an evolving soundscape is generated, where composition becomes an act of deep listening, and the sonic field, a shared space of communication.
In Hyperbiosis, the vegetal and fungal are not subjects of study or symbols of “nature”, they are agents, participants, collaborators. The installation invites us to reimagine the sonic as something more-than-human: a territory where perception bends and where empathy begins not with understanding, but with surrendering control.
This is not music for plants, it is music with them. A landscape built from pulses, not notes. From presence, not performance.
